Treatment of severe periodontitis needs often a multidisciplinary approach that may include orthodontics and prosthetic rehabilitation with FDPs supported either by implants or teeth abutments. Bone and soft tissue deficiency secondary to tooth loss for periodontitis and peri-implantitis may further complicate the treatment.
Bone reconstruction and implants may play a role in this difficult scenario provided that control of the disease is achieved and maintained. A description of the advantages and opportunities of implants and bone reconstructions will be described.
