Biography:
Prof. Dr. Wittneben is a Professor at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry and Gerodontology at the University of Bern, Switzerland and owns a private practice in Zürich. She is a part-time faculty member at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA.
She received her degree and doctorate from University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany. Prof. Dr. Wittneben completed a three-year postgraduated specialization training in Prosthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and holds a Master of Medical Science from Harvard University. She was awarded with the Joseph L. Henry Award for “Overall Achievement in Clinical and Research Training and Contribution to the University” from Harvard University.
She obtained her PhD from Acta, Netherlands focusing on esthetics in implant supported Prosthodontics.
Prof. Dr. Wittneben actively participates in research related to prosthodontics, CAD/CAM and implant supported prosthetics and is publishing in international peer reviewed journals. She is the author of the 6th ITI Treatment Guidebook focusing on extended edentulous spaces in the esthetic zone, which has been translated into 8 languages.
She serves as an advisory board member for the Geistlich Stucki Foundation, she is vice president and board member of the Swiss Woman in Dentistry Association, and she is a member of the clinical grant committee for the Osteology Foundation. She is also a Fellow and Speaker of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), part of the ITI Leadership Board of Switzerland, ITI Study Club Director of Zürich and a member of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), the Swiss Dental Association (SSO) and Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry (SSRD)
